North Korea remains a mystery to many outsiders but it is all too real to its own people. Art is an integral part of this North Korean reality. Despite the imposed restrictions, North Korean art exudes a remarkable intensity. The quality of North Korean art is a consequence of the skillfulness, dedication and passion of its artists. Intrigued about what motivates them, we follow three generations of artists in their various social environments, and we let them talk about their country, their life, their passions, and their art. Mysterious as North Korea may be, it is inhabited by real people with real emotions.
